Notebook contains observations of daily life in an Italian town, reminiscences and reflections on the history, art and antiquities of Tuscany recorded in essays; with an index to subjects. Included are newspaper clippings and broadsides, 1864-1913, prose writings and letters received (some by her daughter), ca. 1863-1866, and two letters to Francesca Alexander, 1910 and 1913, regarding her book, The Hidden servants.
